Electional astrology (event astrology) is an ancient, sophisticated branch of astrology, found in most traditions, in which, an astrologer decides the most appropriate time for an event based on the astrological auspiciousness of that time. It is based on acheiving the best possible results from a planned venture and constructing the best possible chart, ahead of time.

Practiced for milennias – twelve or more as some sources state, yet, few people realize how much this practice has shaped the course of history. Its roots go all the way to Vedic astrologers who used a sophisticated form of electional astrology known as Muhurta - used for choosing the start of rituals, travel, warfare, marriage. Later on, the Babylonians, Egyptians, Persians and Greeks have passed on this knowledge.

It is no more a secret that every ruler has their own astrologer conducting many electional astrology analysis and having a direct influence to all major decisions on a state, or even world level.
